In 1982,
together with friends, we founded the
Polish-American Soccer Club “Polonez”. At the very
beginning, we set our goal not only to play
soccer, but to gather as many Poles interested in
this game as possible. However, we did not close
our doors to players from other nations, and that
is reflected in the name of our club.
Besides
training, our main idea was to be able to meet,
discuss, exchange our experiences and help each
other. 25 years is quite long time to dare say
that we indeed reached our goal.
When the time
passed many players came in and went out. Many
returned to our homeland, but more are still here.
They live in Northern California, they work, and
have families. Even if they no longer “kick the
ball” they are with us.
Our 25th
Anniversary is the perfect occasion to thank. We
want to thank to all of you for what you did for
our club. A special thanks to those who are still
present, and those who left, players and
instructors, referees and journalists, activists
and sympathizers. Simply all of you!
Especially I would like to thank to all of our
sponsors for their support.
As you may know,
we went together through our victories and our
defeats. Together we have celebrated our successes
and were saddened when victory went to opponents.
But, generally speaking, there are more reasons to
celebrate. Let us hope that it will keep that way.
This is our sincere wish for all of us, for our
next board of directors and for all members of the
“Polonez” club.
